Field Experience Unit

What is the Field Experience Office (FEO)?

The FEO is responsible for the implementation of the field experience component of courses for initial teacher preparation and adult and workplace education within the Faculty of Education. This involves QUT programs and related matters together with placement of QUT students into sites and workplace settings and associated administration.

Where is the office located?

The FEO is located in B Block (Room B354), Kelvin Grove Campus.  We are part of the QUT Faculty of Education.

When is the office open?

8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, all year excluding public holidays.
9:00am – 4.30pm Wednesday, all year excluding public holidays.

What is the purpose of the Field Experience Office?

The primary purpose is to provide support in key areas:

Administrative

The Office coordinates the placement of students in Field Experience sites; and assists with the deployment of staff in a support capacity and facilitates communication between all stakeholders within the program.

Pastoral Care

The Office is committed to the welfare of students and other personnel associated with professional experience. Through encouragement and advice when required, the Office aims to nurture the personal and professional growth of all students.

Academic

Working under the guidance of QUT unit and course coordinators the FEO coordinates the implementation and review of Field Experience Programs locally and internationally in partnership with schools in the Faculty of Education. The main task is to support staff and students participating in field experience. In addition, the Office provides leadership in professional experience research and development within the context of career-long professional teacher development and endeavours to facilitate relationships with other tertiary institutions, professional associations, government agencies and schools.
