International FIELD EXPERIENCE - Your chance for an adventure of a lifetime!

Do you have?

  • A sense of adventure and openness to learning
  • A desire to develop personally and professionally
  • Approximately $3000 to cover basic costs such as travel, accommodation and living expenses
  • Satisfactory performance in academic and field experience areas with a GPA of 5 and above
 ...then international field experience may be for you!

Who is eligible?

All QUT students, preferably in the latter part of their Education courses across all strands of the Faculty of Education: Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary, may apply to participate in international field experience. Students must submit an application form and be interviewed by the Coordinator to ascertain their suitability and eligibility.

Where?

Mostly in International Schools in various parts of South East Asia, UK, Canada and the USA where the program has existing links. Schools participating in our program include:

  • St Christopher's School (Prim) and the Uplands School (sec), Penang, Malaysia;
  • Teeratada Phitsanulok School, Northern Thailand;
  • United Nations International School, Hanoi, Vietnam;
  • The Regent’s School, Pattaya;
  • Yew Chung International School, Shanghai, China;
  • The Woodland International School, Hong Kong;
  • The Australian International School, Singapore.

All schools have English as their language of instruction and are well resourced. Generally speaking, they are independent schools and many serve the expatriate populations in these overseas countries as well as the local population. All are highly regarded and place a high value on educational excellence.

Apart from the above, placements may be made in other countries if students have school contacts and are able to arrange an affiliate school and accommodation themselves.

Applications for any school placement overseas will be considered on its merit and suitability to fulfil relevant course requirements. Any proposals should be discussed with the Program/Unit Coordinator prior to submission of an application. The number of placements that can be taken overseas is limited.

If interested you need to read the Frequently Asked Questions carefully and the complete the Application for INTERNATIONAL Field Experience form and send/fax/drop into the Field Experience Office.
